the maximum housing benefit for a single person with a child is �121 a week, so if you went with the �500 amonth place you'd have to make up the difference, not to sure about if your brother lives with you, if he was working then they would reduce your housing, council tax and child tax benfits, but seeing as he isnt working either i'm not to sure.
