Is it possible to obtain a CRB myself, even if i'm not in the UK?

I'm in South America and am apply for a job in child care with a British Company. I've been asked to provide CRB check. Is there anyway of doing this online by myself not via the company? Will i have to pay a fee? How long will it take to process?... Anyone been in this situation before and could help?
